(This regional forum has wrapped. I will try to get a post up for the next one. So, stay tuned...)
I am following the White House Regional Forum on Health Reform in Michigan via the White House live feed. This is a thread for anyone else doing the same.
If people want to post questions in the thread, I will pull up as many as I can...to the body of the post.
Update [2009-3-12 15:45:34 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
"...we need a monitoring of case management care. Once we get the care, we need someone to take care of it." This is a huge point. The system forces patients to fall through the cracks.

Update [2009-3-12 15:30:38 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
Just had an impassioned comment from a healthcare practitioner saying that "Nobody should be denied healthcare because of financial need," and "people who receive healthcare should be protected from financial ruination" as a result. Powerful comment.
Update [2009-3-12 15:30:38 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
Important part of the Recovery Act: funds for healthcare facilities in state of disrepair.
Update [2009-3-12 15:30:38 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
"I want to know why we can't negotiate for lower prescription prices like we do for veterans?"
I want to know that, too...
Update [2009-3-12 15:30:38 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
Another person stands up and pushes single-payer. "We are right across from Canada...people from Canada are not flocking to Detroit for medical care. That should tell you something...this is not rocket science." WOOT!
Update [2009-3-12 15:40:28 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
Granholm: "We recognize that to get this past the finish line, we need to make an economic argument...so let's hear that." It's a fair point.
Update [2009-3-12 15:40:28 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
GM offers an economic argument,"Improving quality, safety, and cost will be the three things that reduce cost." (sounds like a GM car ad!)
Update [2009-3-12 15:40:28 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
Amazing how many people talk about the work they do to help people without coverage...
Update [2009-3-12 15:51:51 by Jeffrey Feldman]:
"Michigan is in difficult shape because we invented the private healthcare system." That is a great point.
[UPDATE}
"Let's take the FDA out of the hands of the people it supposedly regulates, and back in the hands of the people."
